Capoeira is a dynamic Afro-Brazilian art that combines dance-like movement, acrobatics, martial arts, music, and culture. Created by Africans brought to Brazil during the slave trade, it is often referred to as the Art of Survival. With its rich history and vibrant tradition, Capoeira is a great way to develop your discipline, get fit and explore your creativity. It is dance, it is fight, it is culture; an art of transformation, born from the struggle for liberation, empowerment and self-determination.
Today Capoeira is an international art form with a diverse community of practitioners that celebrates contagious energy, ideal functional training and powerful traditions. Classes work conditioning, agility, rhythm, balance, musicality, and technique. Kids, teens, and adults of all fitness levels are welcome, no experience necessary.
Artistic Athletics is home to the Northeast LA branch of Capoeira Brasil, lead by professors Pavao and Chegado and supervised by group founder, Mestre Boneco. Capoeira Brasil is an international cultural organization who's work over the past three decades, has been pivotal in the growth and evolution of the art. With satellite schools in over 40 countries, Capoeira Brasil is one of the world's largest Capoeira organizations. For more information about Capoeira
